OMG WE’RE DONE! I wrote and published journal entries for 30 days IN A ROW! I am exhausted, I am proud, my wrists hurt really bad. Mostly, I’m sooo inspired.
I started this challenge just for me, to push myself to get back into writing, to have something to do every day besides laying in bed and feeling depressed, and to remember the value of expressing myself creatively. I think I succeeded but what’s truly amazing is how many other people went along this journey with me. People shared my work as well as their own, people SUBSCRIBED (some of y’all even paid which is crazy and so appreciated!), and I hope we all were able to explore our inner worlds a little bit more every day of this challenge.
WHAT I LEARNED:
Writing every day is hard, but not impossible and I can do hard things. 😊
Rest is important for creativity. Tearing myself open for introspection and self reflection everyday can be a little exhausting and maybe discouraging. Sometimes I need a break from all this inner work.
Doing something every day is actually pretty good for my confidence and productivity. Who’d’ve thought: consistency is a good thing! It doesn’t have to be deep inner work, but having something to do, something to look forward to every day, was certainly an energy boost.
People care. I wasn’t sure people would relate to the inner workings of my mind but turns out, I’m not alone in my struggles or my triumphs!
WHAT’S NEXT:
We’re doing another writing challenge!!! 🎉🎉🎉
As the weather is changing, so too is the Finding the Right Words Writing Challenge. Instead of writing every day under the theme of a different word, I’ll choose one word for the month of October that will be the theme for weekly writing prompts that will hopefully spark more introspective and creative thoughts.
Fittingly, the theme for October is CHANGE. I’ve drafted 4 unique prompts that center physical, mental, emotional and philosophical changes that you can see in the graphic below. Change is in the air! Let the shifting winds of October motivate and inspire you to explore what’s within. The prompts for October are below.
HOW IT WORKS:
Weekly Prompts: Instead of writing everyday, I’ll write once a week. Every Wednesday during the month of October will be dedicated to a unique journal entry under the month’s theme. The prompts are in the graphic above. I’ll be writing my own entries that will be free to read for everyone and will come straight into your inbox. I encourage you to write along with me and share any of your thoughts, questions or feedback to jdoggett9 [@] gmail.
If you are PAID SUBSCRIBER: Each Wednesday in addition to my journal entry, I’ll be publishing exclusive journaling tips, additional prompts, and writing samples as well as insights into my writing process PLUS affirmations of encouragement to keep motivated in your journaling journey. So much stuff! This is for PAID SUBSCRIBERS ONLY so if you want these goodies, please consider upgrading your subscription 🙂
What Happens to the 30-Day Challenge? My original 30-day writing challenge will be moved behind the paywall on the 10th of October. So if you want to return to the September challenge for nostalgia or inspo, do so before the 10th or feel free to upgrade your subscription.
Finally, I just want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart if you subscribed, if you liked or commented or shared, if you wrote something in your journal even once in the last 30 days, if you messaged me privately or publicly with encouragement, questions, or feedback. I actually don’t have the right words to express how much doing this challenge has meant to me and to have even one person cheer me on along the way has filled my cup more than you could know.
I am not in the same place I was when I started this 30 days ago, not even close. And I’m hoping the next 30 days will bring about even more changes not just for me, but for you if you’re reading this.
Remember, there’s no wrong way to journal, you just gotta find the right words. Thank you again and happy writing!
